Executive Chef Michelle Bailey wins Competition Dining Series – Fire on the Rock –

Chef Michelle Bailey pumped a triumphant fist in the air as Got To Be NC Competition Dining host Jimmy Crippen announced that she was the first woman chef to lead a team to victory since the series started in 2012. Bailey is the chef at Season’s at Highland Lake in Flat Rock. Like many competitors, she won the close battle with Asheville’s Sam Etheridge of Ambrozia Bar + Bistro with the dessert course.

Wine Spectator, the prestigious monthly magazine for wine enthusiasts has selected the Highland Lake Inn Restaurant as one of fourteen restaurants across North Carolina to receive their “Award of Excellence” for one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the country. The award recognizes restaurants that offer wines of interest and are a thematic match to the restaurant’s cuisine and style.

The magazine article describes Highland Lake Inn as “Perfect for families as well as romantic vacations, this Flat Rock getaway offers restful nooks and outdoor activities.” Season’s Restaurant is also featured in the article and the collaboration between the head gardener and chefs are highlighted with regard to the onsite organic garden and the seasonally changing menu.
